How Thingsup Credits are Charged?
MQTT Messages
Messages Published/Delivered will be charged for 0.001 Credits per KB rounding to nearest integer.
0.001/KB
Rules
All HTTP/MQTT Rules are charged for 0.001 Credits per Execution. This is also applicable to failed Rule executions.
0.001/Rule
Actions
All Actions are charged for 0.002 Credits per Execution + 0.001 Credits per 5KB Total Data In-Out, Also applies to failed Actions
0.002/Action + 0.001/5KB Data
Actions - Email
Each Email Action is charged 3 Credits per Execution + 0.001 Credits per 5 KB Total Data In-Out.

For Better Understanding
Credits Examples
A IoT Device sending 0.2 KB of data per hour which includes temperature field in data. For Example: { “Temp” : 26.7 }.
There are 2 Rules being used
- First, Rule to Log All Data into Timeseries Database
- Second, If Temperature is above 40 degrees then you need an Alert Email to be sent to User.
Here, You will be charged 0.001 Thingsup Credits for Each Published from Device as 0.2 KB rounded to 1KB, consuming 1 Message Unit. Also, Both Rules will be checked always consuming 0.001 + 0.001 = 0.002 Credits per message. Email Action will be charged only If Message contains Temperature > 40.
Conclusion: This setup consumes 0.003 Credits/Message Published from Device.
A IoT Device sending 1.2 KB of data per hour which includes temperature field in data. For Example: { “Temp” : 26.7 }.
There is a Rule being used, to Log All Data into Timeseries Database, for example InfluxDB.
- InfluxDB Connection is defined and used to create InfluxDB Write Point Action.
- MQTT Rule used to Trigger previously defined Action to execute on Message MQTT Published.
- Action is Executed when Message is published by Device on specified MQTT Topic.
For Above Setup, you will be charged 0.002 Thingsup Credits for Each Published from Device as 1.2 KB rounded to 2KB, consuming 2 Message Unit. Also, Rule will be checked always consuming 0.001 Credits per message. InfluxDB Write Point Action will consume 0.002(Fixed) + 0.001(In-Data Rounded to 5KB) + 0.001(Out-Data Rounded to 5KB) = 0.004 Credits.
Conclusion: This setup consumes 0.002 + 0.001 + 0.004 = 0.007 Credits/Message Published from Device.

Conclusion: This setup consumes 0.003 Credits/Message Published from Device and 0.003 + 3.002 = 3.005 Credits/Message if Temperature > 40.
